Chinese fishes of the suborder Gobioidei
Professor Wu Han-lin has presented to Heiko Bleher a copy of his recent book of the Chinese fishes of the suborder Gobioidei during Heiko's visit and conferences at the Shanghai Ocean University, October 18th 2010. This book of 952 pages took more then 30 years of hard work, sampling over 11 thousand specimens in addition to the pioneer work done by the late Professor Chu Yuan-ting. Together with his co-authors Wu Han-lin has recorded a detailed description of all Chinese Gobioid fishes a total of 307 species and each one with a very well made drawing. Those belong to 106 genera, 5 subfamilies and 9 families, which together compromise about 14 of all Gobioid fishes known from all over the world. This is a real unique monograph and possible the best so far published on this group worldwide. Although its main text is in Chinese, the Preface, Index and the list of published monographs is in English, the names of all taxa in Latin.
